Meet the Builder
H3 Custom Homes with Dan & Teresa Howarth
This week I’m thrilled to introduce you to an up-and-coming builder here in Omaha called H3 Custom Homes. Founders Dan and Teresa Howarth are Omaha natives who have been married for 32 years with 2 children, Eddie and Sarah. With over 40 years of combined construction business experience, Dan and Teresa pride themselves on continuing to build solid business relationships thanks to their established trade network resulting in a quality home building process. Their hands-on, owner involved approach gives a consistent, top notch product which, in turn, builds trust with their clients.
So, what got them to this point you ask?
Dan Howarth’s passion for quality craftsmanship began essentially at the start of his career. In the 1970’s, Dan’s father worked here in Omaha as a painting contractor for executive new construction properties, which exposed Dan to the construction process from an early age. This time with his father is reckoned to be when Dan acquired his keen eye for detail, how to successfully manage job sites, scheduling skills and when he overall fell in love with the building process.
He then studied Construction Management at the University of Nebraska-Omaha, and worked for the Omaha Public Schools Building & Grounds Division as a foreman for over 20 years where he managed an in-house staff, many remodeling projects, and subcontractors.
When he’s not on the job, Dan enjoys a fine craft beer while watching the Kansas City Royals play baseball.
Teresa Howarth was born with a creative soul. She is a natural visionary who loves to read and has a knack for baking – most notably, her favorite, lemon meringue pie. She attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and graduated with a degree in Fashion Merchandising. She then pursued a career in financial services spending the last 21 years in banking where she mastered every department she touched from lending to deposits, branch management and operations.
In 1992 Dan got the opportunity to build their first home in Keystone while living in Benson here in Omaha. The couple decided to rent the home in Keystone, which ended in neglect to the home, so Dan had to rehab it in order to sell the home, which it did – in 1 day for full price. Impressive! It was this that led to the beginning of their first company, Cadelynn Properties, a real estate holding (investment) company where they rehab, rent, and lease option properties. Created by Dan and Teresa in 2007, they offer a lease options to families in the homes they rehab. Additionally, they rehab 1 to 2 homes per year, with some as much as $260,000 in value.
It’s no doubt these two form a powerhouse when it comes to new construction. If you’re interested in learning more about H3 Custom Homes, please click here to go to their Facebook page!
