The countdown to Halloween has officially begun and the rush for the best costume ensues. Not to mention stockpiling candy to prepare for the masses of Trick-or-Treaters set to explore the neighborhoods all across the city on the night of October 31st. Though this is often a highlight of the entire year for most children, it is important to be aware of important safety measures to follow.
Safekids.org highlights the importance of walking safely, being sure to pay close attention to traffic (and less to electronic devices), as well as staying on the sidewalks and using crosswalks when possible. Young children should always be escorted by at least one adult and preferably wear either reflective clothing or carry a flashlight or glow stick so as to be more visible to drivers. http://www.safekids.org/tip/halloween-safety-tips
For those of you whose children have four legs and fur, there is also a list of 10 safety tips compiled by the ASPCA geared to keep your beloved pets safe and sound throughout all the action on Halloween. The link for the website is https://www.aspca.org/pet-care/halloween-safety-tips.
