The Holiday's Are HERE!
As we spend this first December week still recovering from our turkey hangovers, it is no doubt the holidays are officially in high gear – and picking up speed. And though the weather has taken a plunge with those bitterly cold Midwestern temperatures we know so well, don’t succumb to the “winter blues” for there is MUCH to do around the metro area in these upcoming days & weeks! Below is a list of only a handful of popular things to do and places to be across Omaha this season. ***Click on the pictures for links to more information on each event!
ConAgra Ice Skating Rink
As a sponsor of the Holiday Lights Festival, ConAgra will again have their annual Ice Skating Rink at 10th and Harney Streets open for those 19+ (unless accompanied with a parental signed waiver). Your ice skating opportunity will be open beginning Friday December 11th through Sunday January 3rd. Admission is $5 per person (children 5 and under skate free) and goes towards Food Bank for the Heartland.
Holiday Beerfest
For all the beer connoisseurs around the metro area interested in an afternoon tasting of any or all 75 winter seasonal beers, this event is for you. "Beerfest" is THIS SATURDAY December 5th from 1pm – 5pm at Beertopia (36th and Farnam) and tickets are $25 each ($30 at the door) so if you're interested get your tickets now!
The Holiday Market
To the avid Farmer’s Market goers, heartbroken that the summer season is over – hold your tears! This Saturday and Sunday, December 5th and 6th Physicians Mutual and WOWT present the annual Omaha Holiday Market at Aksarben Village from 10am to 5pm each day. With at least 45+ vendors spanning a wide variety of local goods including custom jewelry, woodwork & furniture, pottery, art, wine, tea and much, much more, there is sure to be something for everyone in the family. Bundle up for this great event and help support local eateries and businesses while out on your holiday shopping adventures. The Nutcracker
Ballet Nebraska presents the family favorite spectacle at the historic Orpheum Theater THIS Saturday, December 5th with an afternoon performance at 2:00pm and an evening performance at 7:30pm, as well as a performance Sunday, December 6th at 2:00pm. (Click the picture below for ticket information)
The Wizard of Oz
Dorothy’s not in Kansas anymore…She’s in Nebraska! Beginning next Tuesday, December 8th and running only through Sunday, December 13th you can see this timeless production at Omaha’s own hallmark, the Orpheum Theater. (Click the picture below for ticket information)
A Christmas Carol
This Christmas classic shows Friday, November 20th through Wednesday, December 23rd at the Omaha Community Playhouse. (Click the picture below for ticket information)
